Marine Corps Ball

This weekend I am going to Reno to celbrate the Marine Corps birthday with my unit.  November 10, 1775 was when the Marine Corps was first founded by the Continental Congress, and thats the day we celebrate as our birthday.  Marines take Marine Corps history and tradition very seriously, so as you can imagine, this day is a very big deal for us.  You can read more about the history here.

There is a very formal and impressive ceremony followed by food dancing and drinking.  It gives everyone a chance to wear their best uniform in front of their girlfriends or wives which is fun.  I’d actually go as far as to say that one of the best things about being a Marine is this ball.  So thats what I’m looking forward to this weekend.

What a sexist remark. We don’t have WM’s anymore? Also, I can tell by your comments about the activities that go on there that drinking is probably at the top of your list. Yes, I’ve been to Marine Corps Balls before, and it’s nothing but a frat party.

Sean isn’t sexist, I think it is really easy to criticize people for generalizing when it happens all the time. Sure, he should have said girlfriends/boyfriends, wives/husbands, but that just seems like too much of a mouthful. It is pretty clear he is just looking from his perspective.
